Suit Styles - Different Variations

By Victor R. Santerino

The different kinds of men's suits are actually quite simple to understand. A very important aspect to note here is that there are four main kinds of suit designs. As soon as you comprehend the four fundamental designs, you will soon understand that practically every other suit you come across, whether in the celebrity section or in fashion shows, can all be classified under any one of them.

The four different designs happen to be American, Italian, British and Oriental that is from the east. Anything else has been drawn from one of them, modified very little by employing a change in the shirt or other attachments that go with it.

The American design of suit has been in existence, say, for almost last two hundred years. It has many uses, being suitable for almost any occasion, and comprises a double buttoned jacket with conventional lapels. It consists of straight trousers which end at the shoe line.

The Italian suit draws more interest and curiosity in the fashion arena. A majority of designers and fabricators of men's suits happen to be of Italian origin. Conventionally, the look is a double-breasted jacket with small pockets. A little padding to each shoulder is common, and the pants invariably come with pleats and cuffs.

British suits are formal in design, and are perfect for business use. Buttoned and pocketed with the addition of shoulder padding. Popular styles of British suit are the pin stripe. Pants boast one or two pleats and a very small cuff.

The Oriental style as the name suggests originated from far east. It has small collar that remains vertical .The jacket, typically buttoned from bottom of the flap up to the neck,is worn closed. An eastern shirt is used with it without a tie.

Any of these aforesaid four fundamental designs can be procured from almost anywhere in the world. You can, as explained, vary them a little by using some imagination and by thoughtful wearing of various combinations of shirt, tie, pocket square as also shoes.

Which one of these four designs you select will entirely depend on your personal choice. Especially, the occasion for which you shall be wearing your suit does matter a lot whether it is business or social, to cite an example. Also, your personality and physical contours will decide as to how each suit style is going to look on you. - 23802
