The Importance of Having New Windows Installed and the Energy Saving Benefits

By Thomas Hickey

If your heating and cooling bills seem way too high, it might have a lot to do with your old windows. You may not think that your windows could be costing you much, but even slightly inefficient windows can be a major source of energy loss in your home, possibly even the biggest.

In the long run, the savings you will see on your heating and cooling costs will pay for the initial cost of having new efficient window installed. Having new windows put in will also look better, and bring the value of your home up. The effect new windows can have on your heating and cooling costs might surprise you. Even if you think your windows are in decent shape, you may want to consider replacing them with new ones.

Older windows are often less efficient than newer ones, especially as new technological advances allow us to create a better seal and windows with a better insulation value. People in older homes are the worst off when it comes to losing heat through the windows. Old wooden frames that allow air to leak through, single pane windows with no insulation value, and other factors result in a lot of heat getting out when it's cold and getting in during the summer months. You'd be amazed at how much money is leaking out through your windows.

Just because your home doesnt have old fashioned wooden frames, doesnt make it much better. Aluminum and steel framed windows installed in the last few decades, even the double and triple paned ones, just arent as efficient as newer ones. They were an upgrade at the time, and probably have a higher insulation value than the older wood ones, but they are still costing you on your heating and cooling bill. Far better windows, at a much lower cost, are out there.

The first place to look, when trying to save money on energy costs and improve the appearance and value of your home, is new efficient windows. Do a little research and find out how well your windows are really insulating your home. Compare those results with the ratings on some newer windows. The results will amaze you when you see how much energy you could be saving with new windows, and all that energy saved is money saved. Plus you wont have to crank up that heater or air conditioner all the time, because there wont be all the loss.

With technology where it is, the selection being so great, and the cost of heating and cooling your home steadily on the rise, replacing your old windows with new efficient ones is the only answer. Having new, efficient windows installed in your home is the money saving solution you have been looking for. - 23802
