Here's How We Use Search Engine Optimization to Get Our Internet Site to the Top

By Jack Spencer

If you were to have a store in the real world but never had any customers walk through your doors, how long would you expect to stay in business? The same is also true whenever you are talking about your Internet business and in order for you to be successful, you need to make sure that your website is positioned in such a way that it can be found. Not only does it need to be found, it needs to be found by people who are actually looking for what it is that you are offering. This is the very core of search engine optimization, something that an increasing number of webmasters are paying attention to.

Although many people understand a few basics about search engine optimization, not all of them understand exactly how it is done so that they would do it properly. Optimizing your website improperly can actually hurt your rankings for a very long time, much worse than not optimizing them at all. It is important for you to hire this work out to somebody who really understands the entire process of optimizing a website properly. We use Alex Miller for all of our website projects and highly recommend him.

There are two basic types of search engine optimization that you need to understand, external and internal optimization. Neither of these is really more important than the other but unless there is a proper balance that is done between the two, you might end up with results that are not quite what you are expecting. Here is a little bit about each type of optimization.

Optimizing your webpage for the search engines has a lot more to do with where you place your keywords than how often you place them. As a matter of fact, some people who do search engine optimization have stopped using percentages for their keywords altogether. Although there are a few key places that you would want to include your keyword phrases, it is really important that you just use them naturally throughout the webpage itself. Over doing on page optimization could easily result in a penalty.

Off-site optimization is far more important to how well your website is going to rank in the search engines. There is a bit of an art to making sure that the off-site optimization is done correctly and if you do so, you can really pull in a lot of traffic for free. If you do not do the off-site optimization properly, you can not only hurt your traffic, you may bring it to a halt. If you end up in what is known as the Google sandbox, it could be months before you get out and do that could spell the death of your business rather easily.

Having access to the proper tools is one of the most important parts of optimizing your webpage properly. Many webmasters don't have access to these tools and that is another reason why they tend to hire this work out to the professionals. Alex has showed me some of the tools that he uses in his search engine optimization business and I can't believe some of the data that it is able to accumulate.

Don't try to take on this important task on your own. Make sure that you hire the services out to Alex Miller and allow him to get your website ranking well for you. It will be money well spent once the visitor start flowing in. - 23802
